JIPHTHAH-EL
Open directlyHastings Dictionary of the Bible · 1898
JIPH'THAH-EL(God opens),the name of a valley forming one of the landmarks for the boundary of Zebulun and Asher. Josh 19:14, Josh 19:27. Dr. Robinson suggests that Jiphthah-el was identical with Jotapata, the fortress which Josephus defended and where he was captured, and that they survive in the modern Jefat, a village in the mountains, 15 miles west of the Lake of Galilee, and halfway between the Bay of Acre and the lake.
