Psalms 9 — ULB

For the chief musician; set to Muth Labben style. A psalm of David.

9Verse 1I will give thanks to Yahweh with my whole heart;
I will tell about all your marvelous deeds.
^{Verse 2}I will be glad and rejoice in you;
I will sing praise to your name, Most High!
^{Verse 3}When my enemies turn back,
they stumble and perish before you.
^{Verse 4}For you have defended my just cause;
you sit on your throne, a righteous judge!
^{Verse 5}You rebuked the nations;
you have destroyed the wicked;
you have blotted out their name forever and ever.
^{Verse 6}The enemy crumbled like ruins
when you overthrew their cities.
All remembrance of them has perished.
^{Verse 7}But Yahweh remains forever;
he has established his throne for justice.
^{Verse 8}He will judge the world with righteousness,
and he will execute judgment for the nations with fairness.
^{Verse 9}Yahweh also will be a stronghold for the oppressed,
a stronghold in times of trouble.
^{Verse 10}Those who know your name trust in you,
for you, Yahweh, do not abandon those who seek you.
^{Verse 11}Sing praises to Yahweh, who rules in Zion;
tell the nations what he has done.
^{Verse 12}For the God who avenges bloodshed remembers;
he does not forget the cry of the oppressed.
^{Verse 13}Have mercy on me, Yahweh; see how I am oppressed by those who hate me,
you who can snatch me from the gates of death.
^{Verse 14}Oh, that I might proclaim all your praise.
In the gates of the daughter of Zion
I will rejoice in your salvation!
^{Verse 15}The nations have sunk down into the pit that they made;
their feet are caught in the net that they hid.
^{Verse 16}Yahweh has made himself known; he has executed judgment;
the wicked is ensnared by his own actions. Selah
^{Verse 17}The wicked are turned back and sent to Sheol,
all the nations that forget God.
^{Verse 18}For the needy will not always be forgotten,
nor will the hope of the oppressed be forever dashed.
^{Verse 19}Arise, Yahweh; do not let man win against you;
may the nations be judged in your sight.
^{Verse 20}Terrify them, Yahweh;
may the nations know that they are mere men. Selah
